What “Slouchy” Actually Means

“Slouchy” is one of those fashion terms that gets used loosely. In this tee specifically, it means three concrete things: dropped shoulder seam (sits below the actual shoulder bone), wider body cut through the chest, and slightly longer in the front than a fitted tee. The result is a relaxed silhouette that drapes rather than hugs — closer to wearing an oversized sweater than a standard t-shirt.

Worth distinguishing from “oversized” — slouchy is more shaped than oversized. The tee still has structure through the body (it’s not a tent shape), but the shoulder line drops and the body has movement. Customers who find true oversized tees too much room often land on slouchy as the comfortable middle.

Strawberry — The Specific Pink

Strawberry is mid-saturation pink — warmer than baby pink, less aggressive than hot pink. The closest reference points are actual ripe strawberry flesh, watermelon-Pink, or the pink found in 70s-era retro athletics. Reads softer in low light, more saturated in direct daylight.

For pairing context: works particularly well with pale denim, cream bottoms, and anything in the warm-neutral family (camel, tan). Doesn’t pair well with black bottoms (the pink reads more aggressive against black than against neutrals).

The “64” Print

The chest features a large vintage-style “64” number print in distressed white/cream. This pulls visual cues from American collegiate athletics and 70s-80s sportswear — collegiate-meets-streetwear styling that’s been a recurring theme in fashion for the past decade.

The print is intentionally distressed (not crisp), which softens the visual impact of having a large number on the chest. Reads as “well-loved vintage piece” rather than “screen-printed sportswear.”

Sizing for Slouchy Cuts

Slouchy cuts size differently than fitted tees:

For relaxed slouchy fit Take usual size
For more fitted look Size down one (defeats the slouchy effect partly)
For full oversized drown look Size up one
For men buying women’s slouchy Size down one from usual men’s size

Slouchy Tee FAQ

Will the strawberry pink fade quickly?

Mid-saturation pinks are more colourfast than pale pastel pinks but less stable than primary reds. Cold wash inside-out preserves the colour for 18-24 months of regular wear. Hot washing or sun-drying accelerates fade by 3-5x. The print will hold longer than the base colour — eventually you may see a clean white “64” against a slightly faded pink.

Can I wear this slouchy tee tucked in?

A French tuck (front partial tuck) works well — keeps the slouchy back drape while defining the waist visually. Full tuck doesn’t work as cleanly because the dropped shoulder seam and wider body create extra fabric bunching at the waistband. For tucked styling, a fitted tee (like our Marle Fitted) is a better fit.

Is the “64” significant or just a number?

Just a styling choice. American collegiate jersey numbers in the 60s range are commonly used in vintage-style streetwear because they read authentic-retro without specific meaning. The number itself isn’t tied to a specific reference (unlike, say, “23” which carries Jordan associations). Pure aesthetic choice.

Does the print method differ from other Mr Winston tees?

The “64” uses a distressed screen-print effect — applied to look pre-faded rather than crisp. Different visual style from the flock-print Cherry Tee or the back-print Beverly Hills tees. Each tee in the range uses different print methods deliberately to give them distinct visual identities even when sharing the brand.
